Database Engine

A database engine is the underlying software component that a database management system uses to create, read, update and delete data from a database.

DataSet

A group of related data files.  Each Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting Company is considered a DataSet.

DBQ

For Pervasive Databases and Workstation Engines.  The DBQ is an Alias to a data location, subdirectory, folder or data path.

Microsoft's File Compression

Zipped (compressed) files take up less storage space and can be transferred to other computers more quickly than uncompressed files. In Windows, you work with zipped files and folders in the same way that you work with uncompressed files and folders. Combine several files into a single zipped folder to more easily share a group of files.

ODBC

Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is a standard application programming interface (API) for accessing database management systems (DBMS). The designers of ODBC aimed to make it independent of database systems and operating systems. You can use ODBC to access your Sage 50 / Peachtree Accounting Software from different software products like Microsoft Access or Excel.

Pervasive

Pervasive Software was a company that developed software including database management systems. Sage 50 and Peachtree Accounting Software uses Pervasive for their database engine.

Winzip

WinZip is a shareware file archiver and compressor for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android developed by WinZip Computing. It can create archives in Zip file format and unpack some other archive file formats.
