Pervasive is the database engine that Sage 50 and Peachtree Accounting systems use. This database engine uses yet another database to locate your Sage 50 and Peachtree Accounting Files. Each company must be registered to the engine prior to use. Normally Sage 50 and Peachtree will perform this step for you when you open your Company. A DBQ name is assigned by Sage 50 so users are unaware of what name it is. You may also have multiple companies with similar names, determining which DBQ Name belongs to which company can be difficult without the grid listing.
DSStudio has 2 tools to assist you with DBQ Names:
- Sage 50 DBQ Grid - This screen will show all the available Sage 50 and Peachtree company entries along with their data path location. Use the data path to determine your companies DBQ Name. If you are assigning a new report to one of your company's using this screen will help you determine which DBQ name to use. If you don't know what datapath or folder your company's data resides in, use the Maintain Company Information Screen inside Sage 50 / Peachtree Accounting. This screen will show you the data path/folder location of your current opened company.
- Sage 50 DBQ Create - Sometimes if you are in a network environment the correct DBQ will not be shown. This utility screen will allow you to create a DBQ Name for the one of your Sage 50 / Peachtree Accounting Companies. This utility is also handy for creating URI mapping to servers and data folders.
This is the Sage 50 / Peachtree Accounting DQB Grid. There are also few additional functions on this screen. You have the ability to delete DBQ Names or cleanup moved or deleted companies from the list. Deleting items from the list will not delete your data. This is only for the Pervasive internal database, any items delete will automatically be created when you open the company with Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting. You may also create your own DBQ Names if you wish, using the Sage 50 DBQ Create Screen.
When setting location for a report it useful to use this screen to copy the DBQ Name and paste it into the Data Location screen in the report.
