Google Gmail SMTP with an App Password for sending emails from Bulk Email Paystubs Sage 50.
Step 1: Enable 2-Step Verification
Before generating an App Password, you must enable 2-Step Verification on your Google account.
- Go to Google Account Security.
- Scroll down to “Signing in to Google” and click “2-Step Verification”.
- Follow the prompts to enable 2-Step Verification.
Step 2: Generate an App Password
Once 2-Step Verification is enabled, you can create an App Password.
- Visit Google App Passwords.
- Sign in to your Google account if prompted.
- Under “Select App”, choose “Other (Custom name)”.
- Enter a name (e.g., “SMTP Email App”) and click “Generate”.
- Copy the App Password displayed on the screen (Write the password down and save it in a safe spot. You cannot retrieve it again without creating a new one).
Step 3: Configure SMTP Settings in Your Application
From DataSoft Bulk Email Paystubs Sage 50 main program screen, select the top menu item “Settings”.
Enter your settings in the Email Server SMTP Information area.
Use the following SMTP settings in Bulk Email Paystubs:
- SMTP Host/IP Address:
smtp.gmail.com
- Port: Number
587
- User ID: Your Gmail address (
yourname@gmail.com
) - User Password: The app password you generated above.

Step 4: Test Your Configuration
- Ensure your firewall (Port 587) allows SMTP traffic.
- Try sending a test email to verify the setup.
