Setting up the Paystubs

Locating Your Sage 50 Company Data Directory

Accessing Company Information in Sage 50 for Paystub Emailing

  • Launch Sage 50 and open the company for which you want to send paystubs.
  • Navigate to the Maintain menu at the top of the screen.
  • Select Company Information from the menu (its located in the middle).

Take note of the directory highlighted in the red box, as you’ll need this information for the next step. This directory specifies the location of your Sage 50 company data.

  • If the path includes a \\servername, be sure to record it, as this indicates the data is stored on a network server.
  • The highlighted directory represents the Sage 50 database for the company you currently have open. This data could reside either on a local computer or a server, depending on your setup.

Keeping this information handy will help ensure a smooth configuration process in the upcoming steps.

This walk through will show you how to connect your Sage 50 data to DataSoft Bulk Email Paystubs software.

From the main screen click edit on the template you want to connect.

The Sage Server refers to the computer where your Sage 50 company data is stored.

  • If the data is on your local machine, simply enter “localhost” as shown above.
  • If the data is stored on a different computer, enter the network name of that computer (//ServerName) in the Sage Server field.

Once entered, click the “Load DBQ Names” button to open the Sage 50 Connection dialog and proceed with the setup.

Matching the Data Path to Company Information

The objective is to ensure the Data Path aligns with the Directory listed in Company Information.

  • If your data folder is not visible, it may be stored on a different computer or server.
  • In that case, enter the correct computer or server name, then click “Load DBQ Names” to retrieve the available directories.

Once the data paths are loaded:

  • Select the appropriate Data Path from the grid.
  • You can either double-click to confirm the selection or click “Save and Close” to return to the previous screen.

Verifying Your Connection in the Maintain Template Screen

Once you’re back on the Maintain Template Screen, click the “Verify” button to confirm that your connection is correctly configured.

  • If the setup is successful, a popup message will appear, displaying the name of your Sage 50 company.
  • If the company name is shown correctly, it means your connection is properly established.

If the verification fails or the company name does not appear, check your connection settings and ensure the correct Data Path is selected.
