Create Sage 50 or Peachtree connection on a workstation

If you already have Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting installed on your workstation then you are ready to go.  You do not need to complete the following steps.  Creating a DBQ entry is only if you don't have Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting Software installed on your workstation.

You can execute reports and exports without having Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting installed on a computer.  You will need to purchase and install the Actian Zen Workgroup Engine from Actian to use the database.

A newer version of Sage 50 version 2020 uses the Actian ZEN PSQ Workgroup Engine.  We still refer to it as a Pervasive Workgroup Engine.

The Workgroup Engine requires an entry in its database system in order to talk to the Sage 50/Peachtree Database.  You can create this entry by using DSStudio's Sage 50 DBQ Create function.

Once the DBQ entry is created you will have the ability to generate reports and exports with a Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting Database.

The DBQ name is an ID/Name that you assign to the entry.
The location is where the actual database is located on your computer or network drive.

If you want to create a Stored Connection (one that you can reuse within DSStudio) click the Create Stored Connection checkbox and enter a Connection Name as well as the User Name and Password.  Doing so will allow you to easily select just the Connection Name in the feature to work with different reports and exports.
