Windows 10 July 2018 update causing problems loading Sage 50 Accounting.
Some users have experience that Sage 50 US will not start after a Windows 10 windows update.
After clicking the Sage 50 Icon nothing is showing on the screen. Sage 50 fails to load or you get a gray screen.
Look in the Task Manager, you may see Sage 50 running as a Background Process. (You will see other Sage and Peachtree related processes there but you are looking for Sage 50 (peachw.exe). This is to verify that the Sage 50 icon has been clicked on and is trying to run.
If you have set the Compatibility Mode from a prior Windows Update to get Sage 50 to function correctly, it is no longer needed. You can just turn off the Compatibility Mode.
If option 1 works great, you are good to go. If you still are experiencing problems then you may need to perform option 2.
- Right-click the Sage 50 Icon on your desktop.
- Choose Properties at the bottom of the menu.
- Click on the Compatibility Tab.
- Uncheck Run this program in compatibility mode.
- Exit out of Properties.
- Reboot your computer
Run the Sage 50 Installation Repair or remove and reinstalling the Sage 50 application. Both of these tasks may be performed by using the Control Panel, Apps & features area.
